Wouldn’t you just hate it if one day you woke up and all your WordPress posts had vanished? You don’t have to worry. Take a minute to backup your blog (all your hard work, blood, sweat, and tears), following the simple step-by-step instructions at the Storyreading Ape’s blog. It could be a life-saver. 🙂

Thanks for re-blogging Chris 😀
I owe you another hundred, at least, but who’s counting? 🙂
Well I’M not Chris – I support my Hall of Fame Authors when and where possible 😀
Thanks for the reminder, guys – I do it periodically, but it should be done more frequently. It’s really easy.

I was surprised. My file size was huge, yet it only took a moment. 🙂
I think they handle bigger blogs than mine – it only took a moment, too, but it is scary to think of losing all my ‘stuff.’
I have a Scrivener project where I create most blog posts before I post them, but I always change and tweak when I put them up, and I’d hate to lose that.
Great reminder! Thanks Chris!!
Let’s forward our thanks to Chris the Storyreading Ape. 🙂
Sure!! Thanks Chris The Story Reading Ape and thanks to Chris for reblogging! 🙂
Thank you! I am updating my theme this week and was concerned about losing content. This post arrived at the perfect time.
Chris the Storyreading Ape did share this at a great time. 🙂
Ok… call me daft, but where does it get exported to? And doesnt that mean you are removing all your data, or does it just replicate?
You’re just downloading a copy as back-up. The original remains on your blog. Just save the back-up file to your computer as you would any other file that you download.
Oh! I see! But thats a lot of content, must take up a lot of memory.
That’s what I was expecting, but my huge blog turned out to be quite reasonable and the download was surprisingly quick.
Then I will do it right away! I guess its a good habit to do it every month or so. In that case, will the new export just override the old one?
It will just save a new file for you.
Thank you oh wise one! ☺
Thanks to the both of you for this hunorous reminder. 🙂
You can’t back up too much, but you can back up not enough. 🙂
You’ve frightened the life out of me!
I hope you’re part cat so that you’ll still have 8 left. 🙂
Backing up never occurred to me. Feeling silly!
Just don’t back down on your back-up (or even back out). 🙂
