AMS NOW AVAILABLE IN CANADA AND AUSTRALIA
Amazon has made advertising in Canada (print or ebook) and Australia (ebook only) available at AMS via KDP. (Regions previously available include the USA, UK, and continental Europe).
Are you having trouble logging in and setting up an account either in Canada or Australia? If so, this solution may help you:
Don’t go to Reports > Ad Campaigns > Learn more > Canada (or Australia).
Instead, go to your Bookshelf at KDP, find one of your books, and click Promote and Advertise. (You may need to click an ellipsis … button first before you see the Promote and Advertise button.)
For whatever reason, the first method is currently running into problems when you haven’t previously set up an account in the region, but the bookshelf method is working.
(Once you successfully place an ad, then you should be able to use either method.)
Also, you’ll need to set up your billing/payment info before placing your first ad. (If you start setting up your first ad before you realize this, you’ll want to click Save as Draft to save your work. After setting up the billing/payment info, find your ad campaigns, and before you freak out that you lost all of your work, look for the tab called Drafts.)
Finally, note that you can only advertise ebooks at Amazon Australia. It won’t let you advertise print books there (through AMS via KDP). Why not? Amazon Australia doesn’t have a print-on-demand facility, so they can only fill pod books through the Expanded Distribution channel. You can advertise print books in Canada (and the US, UK, and continental Europe).
